Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney Guest Speaker at Mothers Day Banquet In Valdosta, Georgia 2006!
Sunday, May 14, 2006
This event was so historically rewarding that I had to write concerning the "Greater St. Peter African Methodist Episcopal Church 2006 Mothers Day Banquet."
Moreover, it made me proud to have retired in Valdosta from the Armed Forces of our beloved nation. The banquet theme was “Chosen to Shine in the Darkest of Times,” Greater St. Peter African Methodist Episcopal Church in Valdosta did a superb job. The main purpose of the event was to honor a deserving mother for 2006, and Dr. Ronda Cross-Scott was chosen.
Her accomplishments went far beyond what was required to win. It is practically impossible to mention all her accomplishments. Therefore, I will summarize what was reported in the Valdosta Daily Times on March 14th 2006.
That “Dr. Ronda Cross Scott learned of unjust fees from some constituents while serving as a Clinch County Commissioner. The federal lawsuit in which the jail was charging room and board like the Holiday Inn has truly opened the eyes of many.
As a result of Dr. Cross Scott’s work $27,000 will be returned to people who paid fees from 2000 to 2004.” Therefore, she is very much deserving of this recognition, exposure and high honor. Our community in my opinion owes a debt of gratitude to the members of the Peoples Tribunal for an outstanding welcome extended to the Honorable Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney
Lastly, I commend Valdosta Daily Times Reporter Kenna Walsh for her participation at this event and reporting news we can use in Valdosta, Lowndes County Georgia and beyond. Peace.
